Reese's Marshmallow Cereal Bars from The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen | Filled with peanut butter Halloween candy and puffed peanut butter cereal, these no-bake bars are perfect to use up extra Halloween candy!

Working from home means I can be a little oblivious to the outside world at times.  I really only leave my house to go to the grocery store, the gym, the diner for breakfast, the farmer’s market, my kitchen space to bake cookies and occasionally to see friends.  I’m not a total hermit, I go for walks in the evening after dinner and of course Sir Pugsley requires his daily strolls around the neighborhood.

I suppose my point is, I don’t shop to shop anymore, I broke that habit when I suddenly didn’t feel a need to get out of a space for a break.  So basically when I walked into my neighborhood pharmacy the other day, I was confronted with Halloween! Essentially the front part of the store was taken over by costumes, decorations and candy.

The candy you guys, it’s such a weakness.  We don’t even get trick or treaters and I really shouldn’t be eating it but those miniatures who can resist it?

As such the case is every year, I grabbed one bag too many and ran home to bake with them or this time no-bake.

While strolling along the grocery store, I came face to face with some peanut butter puff cereal and pretty much thought that plus some marshmallows and a ton of peanut butter candy would make the most dreamy marshmallow squares.  Was I right? You betcha I was!

These bars are what peanut butter dreams are made of.  You can use whatever peanut butter candy you fancy but I went with a mix of butterfingers, chopped up snickers and Reese’s candies for the mix.  Instead of mixing peanut butter into our marshmallow you get an explosion of peanut butter from the candy and the cereal.  All it takes is 15 minutes to mix it together and then some time for it to set before you can dig in to this simple but delicious treat.

These bars are perfect for any Halloween party or to use up extra candy the day after (or really just because you want a little special treat, I won’t tell)!

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 - 15 ounce bag marshmallows
  • 6 cups puffed peanut butter cereal
  • 1 cup Reese's candy
  • 1 cup chopped Snicker's candy
  • 1 cup chopped Butterfinger candy

Instructions

  1. Line a square 9X9 baking pan with parchment paper so that it hangs over the side.
  2. In a large pot melt the butter and the marshmallows and remove from the heat. Stir in the cereal and coat completely with the melted marshmallows.
  3. Stir in the candy, making sure it's evenly distributed (note the heat from the marshmallow will melt some of the chocolate slightly).
  4. Pour into the parchment lined baking pan and press down with your hands or a wooden spoon.
  5. Let the treats cool and set for 4-6 hours or overnight before removing from the pan by lifting up the parchment paper.
  6. Cut into squares and serve. Treats will stay fresh in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
