At your next fete, take a glamourous turn with the cocktails and stir up a batch of Blood Orange Rosemary Spritzer with three twists to please everyone in the room!
Oscar Sunday! Otherwise known as the “Super Bowl” for us creative kids! I love watching the Oscars, the red carpet with the gorgeous (and what in the world were they thinking dresses), taking guesses at who will win and the montages.
Yes, I admit it, I’m a sucker for all the montages. I love them and I’m so not ashamed of it.
What I will confess is my lack of movie watching the last few years, it seems like I always catch all the Oscar nominated movies way way after the fact. It isn’t because I don’t enjoy sitting down in a dark theater, with a giant tub of popcorn in my lap and tuning out for 3 hours. It’s more that I find it so hard to find the time to give up and do it!
How horrible is that? So of course, I avoid all the Oscar parties and trivia nights leading up to my version of a fun night on TV mostly because I haven’t seen anything.
The guessing game is fun when you guess correctly though.
So while I avoid the real parties, I won’t say no to the #SundaySupper red carpet party, especially if you have something fun planned for tonight (even if it’s sitting at home in your pajamas with a glass of wine in hand).
I say any excuse to throw a get together is a good one and a party definitely needs a cocktail.
Since blood oranges are still in their prime, now is the time to grab a bunch and make some spritzers to cheer on your favorite winners. I mean, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t mind a glass in hand either, while they sit through that never ending show! Also because I just couldn’t decide on what type of spritzer to make, I made you three!
All you have to do is make your rosemary simple syrup, juice a lot of blood oranges and set up the bar with the options.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup cane sugar
- 2 large sprigs fresh rosemary
- 6 ounces fresh blood orange juice (about 3-4 blood oranges)
- 2 1/2 ounces vodka (divided)
- champagne
- club soda
- ice
- fresh rosemary and blood orange slices for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat combine the water, sugar and rosemary. Heat until the sugar is dissolved, remove and let the rosemary steep for 10 minutes. Strain the rosemary from the simple syrup and store in a small jar.
- Fill a rocks or stemless wineglass with ice and in a shaker add 1/2 ounce rosemary simple syrup, 2 ounces blood orange juice and 2 ounces vodka. Shake and pour into your glass, top with club soda, a sprig of rosemary and blood orange slice for garnish. Makes 1 cocktail
- Fill a champagne flute with 1/2 ounce rosemary simple syrup, 1 ounce blood orange juice, 1/2 ounce vodka and top with champagne or sparkling wine. Garnish with rosemary and blood orange slice. Makes 1 cocktail
- Fill a collins glass with ice and add 1/4 ounce rosemary simple syrup, and 3 ounces blood orange juice. Top with club soda. Garnish with rosemary and blood orange slice. Makes 1 drink.

I never get to see the movies either! But it’s still fun to watch. Love that you made three versions. I’ll take the champagne one, and the non-alcoholic one would be fun if you have little ones at your party. They like something special too!
What a lovely combination of flavours!!! And a beautiful colour too!
I’ve been loving Blood Oranges this month! Your spritzer looks amazing. I’ve pinned it and will definitely be making it soon.
I used to be so good about seeing all the movie nominations before the Oscars, but it’s been hard for me the last few years to find time! I can definitely find the time for this cocktail, though 🙂
This cocktail is absolutely stunning. I love the combo of flavors, and you know how much I’m loving blood oranges right now. Pinned.
I love blood orange!! This is a cocktail right up my ally!!! Love it!!
I love rosemary in a cocktail and have made something very similar with grapefruit. I am all over blood oranges myself, have bought them a few times already!! Nicely done!!
I love everything about this cocktail – bubbles, blood oranges, herbs. Yum!
Yes, please! They are gorgeous.
Yeah, this is one party I like to have a home, with my family, in my pjs! But I would love to sip on one of your festive cocktails—just gorgeous!
Rosemary is my favorite herb and I love that you added it into a cocktail! So fragrant!
I love the idea of using rosemary in a cocktail.
Hehe. It seems like ‘not getting away to see movies’ is a common theme this week. Who needs ’em when you can sip this cocktail instead?
This is really a beautiful drink! I love spritzers! Refreshing!
Mmm, I love the smell of rosemary. Adding a sprig to liven up a cocktail is a great idea. These sound delicious! Cheers 🙂
I love adding savory herbs to drinks. Definitely pinned!
Gorgeous colors!
Oh I’d cozy up to a bar with those spritzers in a heartbeat. Great flavors and I love rosemary infused in them too.
