You may have noticed I went a little citrus crazy this month. What can I say? I needed a chocolate break and if you are going to go citrus crazy, January is the month to do it. So many good citrus fruits are at their peak right now and my absolute favorite is just arriving. Can you guess what it is? I hope so since it’s sitting right in your face.
That’s right, the meyer lemon is back! Granted at this point you can pretty much find meyer lemons year round, I prefer to buy them at their peak which is mid-January through March. A hybrid between a true lemon and a clementine this fruit is the perfect lemon. Not too tart and not too sweet. Goldilocks would have picked the meyer lemon.
So when Terri from Love and Confections asked if I could stop by today to guest post while she takes a blogging break to spend quality time with her new baby girl Grace, it was a no brainer I’d bring along a meyer lemon dessert.
These baked donuts are so easy, so delicious, almost so guilt free that even new mom Terri can manage it. So what are you waiting for? Hop on over to get the recipe! It’s Friday and you need something to bake up for breakfast tomorrow morning!
I don’t like regular lemons all that much, but I LOVE Meyer lemons. They’d make for a great doughnut!
That’s true – get your citrus fix in January before the chocolate craze hits in February! These donuts look beautiful, Susan. I’m heading over to read your guest post now.
I just bought meyer lemons but haven’t decided what to do with them. These doughnuts sound fantastic!
I love lemon! These look wonderful!
Yes, but it’s January, which means were pretty much obligated to stuff ourselves with citrus. Lemony desserts (or breakfasts!) always hit the spot.
How did I ever live before discovering Meyer Lemons. This sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Um, I’ll be right over. Seriously woman, these are fabulous.
OMG, I love citrus 24/7/365!!! I cannot get enough!
These look amazing Susan! My neighbor just brought me some meyer lemons the other day, I think it’s fate.
