Game Day eats require one item – chicken wings! This time with a twist! For game day this year add Sriracha Hummus Chicken Wings to your menu and watch them run out before the clock!
Last weekend I was dining out celebrate a friends birthday with a large group and lo and behold football was on the screen. Amongst the conversation and chatter throughout the big table one of my friends looked up the television and muttered, oh are these the games that determine who’s playing in the big game?
Her question was met with silence and we all proceed to continue eating.
Welcome to my life and meet my friends. They are just like me – we prefer what’s happening on the table rather than what’s on the screen when it comes to sports! Not to say that any invitation to a football themed party would be met with regrets. After all, it is a good excuse to chow down on some tasty bites all day long. As for who’s actually playing? Well . . .it’s the thought that counts right? A cheer here or there should put you into the spirit!
Since I’m in a household that forgets the game is even on, I need an invite to a party if I want to enjoy some big game eats. Of course that means I’d be coming with something extremely tasty in hand!
For me, I’m all about the tried and true foods with a little twist. I just can’t help but associate football Sunday with chicken wings. Don’t get me wrong, I love my chips and dips and guacamole but I’m all about the wings. I’m a little big ashamed at how easily I can put down a plate of wings. As much as I love good old fashioned Buffalo wings, I’m more a sriracha girl myself and as thus these wings were invented but first they needed a crispy crust without frying.
The solution? Hummus! Oh yes, hummus goes beyond dips here! While I do think a tub should belong at the chip and dip station, it works even better crusted on some chicken. You’d never think this Mediterranean spread of chickpeas, tahini, oil, garlic and spices would work in this matter but baked on it forms a light, crispy shell that’s even better (and healthier) than frying! I always have some at home for lunch time snacks, so I grabbed my trusty container of Sabra hummus and got to work!
With a day full of so much food and such a large spread, you want your Game Day Snacks to be easy and that’s exactly what this recipe is.
All it takes is just 4 ingredients to make the magic happen. Don’t even worry about a dipping sauce! Sabra has you covered there with their vegetable packed Farmer’s Ranch dip! In 30 minutes, these wings are ready to be served. Truthfully it’s a good thing it takes so little time to get these on the table, you might end up making more all night long!
