Fresh Figs gets paired with a classic cocktail for a gorgeously hued and flavorful update.  For happy hour at home this week, shake up some Fig Bees Knees cocktails. 

Well someone has been ignoring their Friday happy hour duties and that someone is me.

Have you missed your dose of cocktails?  Well I’m back! Umm. . .well I hope I’m back on a more regular basis than I have been, but life it sure is busy and always seems to get in the way of things.

However, this time around I had to make sure I shared this Fig Bees Knees Cocktail recipe with you before fig season is over.  As it is, it might be a touch challenging to pick up some good looking fresh figs, but I have faith in that you can manage it just one more time.

After all my neighbor down the street with the fig tree in front still has unripened figs growing, it’s a bit late but if she’s growing them, someone is!

So now that we are back, what’s happening in life friends?  How’s fall treating you? Are you getting your foliage pictures in, consuming as many apple cider donuts as possible and picking those apples and pumpkins?

I can tell you that I’ve managed to do one of those – for the first time in years, we finally grabbed a car and went apple picking  Instead of heading up state to the big orchards, last Friday Braden and I headed out east on Long Island.  Growing up we never had apple orchards, just berry and pumpkin picking and now there are tons of places to pick apples!  I was curious to see where all these farms came from.  Turns out, they are all dwarf trees!  That’s why it sprung up so quickly in the last 10-15 years, you don’t need much time to grow these tiny apple trees.   So I got a little zealous with my apple picking and brought home 18 pounds of apples for 2 people and one apple loving dog.

It would have been appropriate to share an apple cocktail today but I promise I have that coming your way.

For today we will just enjoy our figs and a drink that you can safely say really is the bees knees <— sorry (not sorry) I really enjoy bad food puns.   Grab some cheese, a crusty loaf of bread and happy hour is set for tonight.
