Apparently it’s really easy to avoid doing some of the things in life that one would expect you to have experienced after 32 years on this earth.
My prime example: I do not know how to ride a bike. I remember riding a tricycle when I was really little and making at least one attempt at learning to ride at some point. However I’m pretty sure I fell, decided it wasn’t for me and my dad didn’t push me to learn.
Now I realize this may be shocking to some but it’s really not that big of a deal. I think putting myself on this thin metal frame with two wheels basically freaked me out. It still does. I hate bikes. Braden still tries to get me to learn so we can go biking together but biking in the city?
No thank you.
Want to know what else I’ve managed to avoid my entire life? Cadbury creme eggs.
Yeah. I know.
This coming from the woman who said she can’t resist holiday themed candy.
However there was something about that creme egg goo that just turned me off. Plus Easter isn’t my holiday, so it wasn’t like these little guys showed up in a basket for me once a year.
Pass me my chocolate jelly rings please and thank you.
But then I had this genius idea to make a bark out of them. Kind of silly for something I hadn’t tried before isn’t it? I just knew I wanted to do an Easter candy bark after having so much fun with my Halloween version.
Plus what is more Easter candy related than Cadbury Creme Eggs?
So I picked up a bunch of eggs at the store with an extra to try.
The verdict, really really really sweet. Really sweet.
Paired with some nice high quality chocolate? Not as sweet and totally awesome!
Ingredients
- 12oz dark chocolate (no more than 60% cacao)
- 3oz white chocolate
- 4 Cadbury Creme Eggs, crushed
- 4 Cadbury Caramel Eggs, crushed
Instructions
- Set up a small baking sheet with wax paper placed on top.
- In a double boiler or water bath with the heat set to medium-low, place 8 ounces of the dark chocolate in a medium bowl and melt.
- Remove the melted chocolate from the heat source and stir in the remaining 4 ounces to lower the temperature (this is my quick way to temper chocolate).
- In a smaller bowl set over the water bath or double boiler melt the white chocolate.
- Pour half the dark chocolate in the center of the prepared sheet.
- With a silicone spatula smooth the chocolate out into a 8X8 (approximate) even square.
- Top with the crushed Cadbury Creme and Caramel eggs.
- Pour the remaining chocolate on top of the Cadbury eggs, making sure they are covered with the chocolate.
- Using a separate silicone spatula, place it into the white chocolate and drizzle it back and forth over the top in different directions.
- Place the chocolate in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to completely set up.
- Remove and cut into pieces of your desired size.
- If it is warm in your area, I recommend storing the bark in the refrigerator.
This is the cure for every sweet tooth! Yum!
Forget everything else in my Easter basket… I’m going all in for this bark. YUM.
I haven’t ridden a bike in years-I don’t think it’s a big deal that you can’t! And I still haven’t tried Cadbury Creme eggs either!!! I probs should though-especially because this bark look suuuuper awesome
Okay, this is awesome.
My mom never learned how to swim. Much worse! Now about this bark…brilliant. And I ain’t sharing.
Face plant! Gawsh how I love barks!
I haven’t had a Cadbury in years! I need to change that!
MMmm, my favorite Easter candy in “bark” form. GENIUS.
Can’t go wrong with crème or caramel in bark oh my delish!
ooo I’m a sucker for Cadbury Eggs!! Happy Easter to ME!! haha
My hubby LOVES Cadbury eggs…and I have a feeling your candy bark would be very popular at my house!
My leftover Easter candy has just met its new home. That looks divine. I know how to ride a bike, but I also hate riding in the city or on the street. I get so nervous when cars come up behind me and are waiting because the streets are too narrow to pass. So yeah, I really can’t blame you for the not-wanting-to-learn-in-the-big-city. I’m pretty much a trail rider only.
Um biking in NY seems like the most dangerous thing ever. I don’t blame you for not wanting to learn. I mean I have a bike and live in a relatively calm part of the city and I never ride.I looooove Cadbury Eggs!If you aren’t into those solo you need to try some Robins’ Eggs! Mmmm!
I learned to ride a bike in 2010. I am not ashamed to admit it. I was 32.
This bark wouldn’t make it in my house. I would probably get tackled before it completely sets.
Mmm, I love cadbury creme eggs!
And not knowing how to ride a bike, how could that be? haha well I guess it’s understandable. I couldn’t get off my bike when I was little, I jumped off sidewalks and rode without hands and everything. But now that I’m older I’m actually kinda scared of them too.
I barely know how to ride a bike, so you’re in good company! (at least, I like to think so). Cadbury eggs really are too sweet for me, but maybe in this bark they’d even out a little. So festive!
I’ve had the creme eggs once and that was all I could handle. They’re way too sweet and artificial tasting for me. Now the candy covered Cadbury eggs .. I could eat a whole bag of those, one little one at a time.
I have a couple Cadbury Eggs just sitting around that could totally rock this bark. I think I know what I’m making my hubs as a surprise dessert 🙂
