Dark Chocolate Brownies

Every small business owner faces their own unique day-to-day challenges. For example, in my case I may run out of ingredients at inconvenient times, burn a batch of blondies, or even worse, leave the sugar out of the recipe completely! Yes, the last one really did happen recently! I’ve been running my bakery business for the past 5 years and to be honest while it’s a privilege and an honor to be an entrepreneur, it’s not always rainbows and sunshine. It’s a very hard job, there a long hours, slow weeks, difficult days and sometimes you feel like you’re spending more money than you’re bringing in. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of amazing days that surpass the tough ones which makes running my own business completely worth it.

Small business owners, like myself, wear many hats and play a lot of different roles – that’s why it’s important to set yourself up with a good team. Not only do they understand what I go through on a day-to-day basis, but it also helps make my life just a little bit easier. It’s companies like The Hartford Small Business Insurance that help along the way. Whatever your business is, from baking to burpees, they can find a solution which can be tailored to meet your needs, meaning you can focus on running your business.

Owning your own business = wearing many hats.

As I mentioned, owning your own business can be a lonely job as there are a lot of hats to wear to make a business run successfully. On any given day I can be the baker, the business manager, accountant, taking stock of our inventory, re-ordering supplies, saleswoman, social media manager and more. Knowing people have your back is key to making it through the day, week, month, and year. That support comes from all different sources too; from friends I’ve made through baking, my family, and outside resources like a reliable insurance company. The right type of support combined with the right encouragement anything is possible!

What’s even better is being able to rely on one place or person to accomplish many tasks! The Hartford for example, can offer a variety of small business insurance solutions for your business. One-stop-shopping is the way to go when you’re trying to balance everything on one plate.

Despite everything, I wouldn’t give up any of the choices I’ve made in starting my own business. There are so many positives that outweigh the negatives when it comes to being an entrepreneur or solopreneur! I don’t have to run business decisions by partners, I can be a workaholic or I can say, “I need a break, I’m taking the rest of the afternoon or day off!” I get to keep the profits and the best part – the power of outsourcing tasks and knowing I’m the one responsible for my success.

Insurance may not be something you think about with the same favor as say the most decadent chocolate brownies, but as a small business owner, it’s important to make sure all you’ve worked for is protected. And it is good to know that there are companies like The Hartford who stand behind over 1 million small businesses.
