Spiked Nutella Parfaits

Spiked Nutella Parfaits is just the dessert you were looking for to end date night at home.  It’s chock full of chocolate, easy to toss together and has a grown up kick!

I’m officially calling this weeks theme “date night”.  Not to be confused with the Steve Carell and Tina Fey movie of the same name (which I consider not one of Tina’s best movies but I’d still watch because Tina Fey. . .).

No, it’s date night week because on Tuesday we started off with a simple but delicious and slightly classy pasta dish to elevate your normal weekday meals and truthfully what’s a good meal without dessert at the end?

Plus this weekend is Valentine’s Day and as far as I’m concerned, it’s the best excuse possible to indulge in chocolate all.day.long.

I admit that even I go the lazy route when it comes to dessert on date nights at home.  It’s either a pint of ice cream or a few extra cookies laying around if I happened to have an order go out that week. Dessert is easy to look over when you’re cooking a meal at home but this year I’m changing that up and I think you should to!

This is basically why I love parfaits, they can be made ahead and are easy to assemble. While yes you can build beautiful layers, it’s totally acceptable to present a messy parfait.  Just call it “artistic”.  I mean, in the end, it all tastes the same!

I do confess that this spiked nutella parfait recipe came to because of a failed caked recipe.  You know what?  It was worth it, no one should cry over broken cake because you then get to layer it between two ingredient nutella mousse, chopped hazelnuts and fresh homemade whipped cream.

I did mention it was spiked right?  Just a little something to help in that romance department ????

Oh I jest! It does keep the kids off your dessert though!

For a while I kept drooling at the recipe and wondered if I could pass it off for breakfast? But I pinned it on to my dessert board in the end.
Lovely pictures & delicious combination of flavours. 🙂
