Top Ten Most Popular Girl In The Little Red Kitchen Recipes from 2013

At the end of every year, I love taking a look back to see what you my dear readers loved the most throughout the year.  It’s a great way for me to gauge what you’d like to see more of in the future and what keeps on trucking despite some awful photos (perhaps I’ll get to updating those one day).

Do you know what I learned this year? You guys like to drink or rather you like to have your recipes with the drink already cooked in. Four out of the top ten recipes involved booze.  You also really like your sweets, since we only have 3 savory dishes and only one is a main.  Now I’m not even including recipes from the last two years that keep going strong.  Duck Bacon and  my original poutine recipe is riding high.  I thank you for that and for coming back each and every day.

I’m so proud of everything that’s been accomplished this year and I can’t wait until next.  If there is anything you’d like to see from me that I haven’t done yet, please let me know! For now, let’s get to the recipes starting with number 10!

Potato Latkes with Turkey and Cranberry Chutney | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

10. Potato Latkes with Turkey and Cranberry Chutney – Oh Thanksgivukkah. The once every 78,000 years occurrence, what a fun opportunity to merge my two favorite eating holidays together.

Guinness Shepherd's Pie | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

9. Guinness Shepherd’s Pie – Speaking of holidays, this delicious beauty of beef, beer and potatoes was in my opinion the best way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Cherry Bourbon Lemonade | The Girl In The Little Red KItchen

8.  Cherry Bourbon Lemonade – The drink that started my cocktail obsession and also one of my most popular pinterest posts of this year.  I love this drink and can’t wait for cherry season to make this again.

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

7. Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes – Summer in cupcake form. Need I say more?

Meyer Lemon Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

6. Meyer Lemon Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake –  I made this delicious New York style cheesecake multiple times until it was perfect.  I won’t even tell you how many bars of cream cheese gave their life to make this one happen.

Halloween Candy Bark | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

5. Halloween Candy Bark – Never again will you wonder what to do with your leftover Halloween candy.  Just make bark out of it! This one is seriously addictive, I suggest gifting it before you sit down and eat more than you should at once.

Bourbon Brown Sugar Ice Cream | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

4. Bourbon Brown Sugar Ice Cream – Looking for perfectly scoopable ice cream right out of the freeze? Just add bourbon (or any other type of alcohol) to it.  This might have been my favorite ice cream all year.

Sriracha Popcorn | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

3. Sriracha Popcorn –  You can’t put this popcorn down, buttery and just enough heat from the sriracha it’s what you’ll want at your next movie night.

Red Velvet Macarons | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

2. Red Velvet Macarons – Looking to impress your loved one come Valentines Day? I promise French macarons are not as difficult as you think and this recipe provides step by step photos of the process.

Irish Carbomb Cupcakes | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

1. Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes – Can we briefly touch on the irony of the number one spot for this year? For you see, I loved these cupcakes but I hated the name I gave them.  I went back and forth about the implications of naming it after the drink and yes I caught some flack on the interwebs about the name.  It was no fault but my own, next time I know to go with the longer name of Chocolate Stout Cupcakes with Baileys chocolate ganache filling and Jameson Cream.

Did you have enough? Want a few more recipes before we close out the year. Yes. You do. For fun, here are a few of my favorite recipes from this year.

Bacon and Onion Dip | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

Bacon and Onion Dip  – Never again will you need to buy packaged onion soup mix to make your onion dip.  Right here is a homemade version that’s a million times better and it’s made with low-fat greek yogurt, so less guilt (eat more)!

Cheesesteak Poutine | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

Cheesesteak Poutine – Do I really need to elaborate on this? Just look at the awesomeness above.

Cider Braised Pork Belly | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

Cider Braised Pork Belly – Pork belly so tender it melts in your mouth and this recipe only looks fancy.  Click through to see how easy it is.

Homemade Labneh | The Girl In The Little Red Kitchen

Homemade Labneh – This is one of those recipes where after I wondered why I waited so long to make it.  The hardest part is waiting the three days for all the liquid to strain from your yogurt, so you can enjoy this tangy spread.

Marble Rye | The Girl In The Little Red KitchenMarble Rye – If you are going to do a Festivus post, you might as well make your recipe a feat of strength. Am I right? A proud moment when this beauty came out of the oven.
