Celebrate Thanksgiving with Crown Royal Maple Finished #seasonofmaple

This year for Thanksgiving, why not have a little fun and change things up a bit? How about an all whiskey celebration with Crown Royal Maple Finished

Thanksgiving is probably the one holiday each year where your menu hasn’t changed since you were born.  Am I right? Growing up it was always the same thing, a glorious (and huge) roasted turkey, gravy, stuffing in and out of the bird (I know you shouldn’t stuff but this was the 80’s and 90’s Mom stuffed that bird), mashed potatoes, baked yams,  green beans and of course cranberry jelly straight from the can.  There might have been a few more dishes here and there but that’s what I fondly remember.  Every year. The same thing.

Did we complain? Not at all because my mom is a fabulous cook and Thanksgiving is and always will be one of my favorite holidays.

As an adult though, I crave change and creativity at the dinner table.  Last year was the first year I cooked Thanksgiving on my own – it was just Braden and I.  I of course made a feast and nothing on that table was a dish either of us had enjoyed growing up at the Thanksgiving day table.

Sometimes change is a good thing.

Allspice Roasted Duck with Balsamic and Crown Royal Maple Glaze3 When the opportunity arose to create some dishes for a whiskey infused Thanksgiving with Crown Royal Maple Finished, this was the time to go for change and yet still make something familiar.

Kind of like Crown Royal Maple Finished.  The liquid combines the taste of Crown Royal with a touch of maple flavor without being overly sweet.  Maple is such a signature flavor of fall that it makes a seamless integration into your Thanksgiving dinner.

And of course, can you really complain about a whiskey Thanksgiving? A responsible whiskey Thanksgiving of course, let’s not go too crazy.

To start, welcome your guests with a Mulled Crown Royal Maple Apple Cider.  The smell of warm apple cider, maple and citrus evokes fall right at home.  A big batch means you won’t have to worry about making cocktails all evening and it can be served hot or at room temperature.

For dinner, instead of turkey change things up with an Allspice Roasted Duck with Balsamic and Crown Royal Maple Glaze and Crown Royal Maple and Brown Sugar Roasted Delicata Squash.  Both dishes come together in no time and who says you need to have turkey every year?  Duck is a fantastic option to change up your menu and it cooks in half the time, the meat is always juicy and of course the crispy skin.   Plus it’s great for a small group.

Is your mouth watering yet? Do you want to the recipes? Well hop over to Crown Royal’s Facebook page and keep an eye out, they will be posting them between now and Thanksgiving!
