Correct me if I’m wrong here but I think we can all agree that breakfast food is the best category food types.

Breakfast foods let you choose between the sweet and the savory, you can have chocolate chip pancakes, dowsed with syrup and copious amounts of butter and it would be totally acceptable for a meal.  It’s not a meal you should have every day but one you also don’t have to justify, unlike a brownie for dinner.  Plus there’s bacon, need I explain anymore?

The next best thing to breakfast is brunch and it’s only because you get to add a cocktail with your meal.

Now while I don’t entertain nearly as much as I would like to, when I have to time to do it a brunch party is my favorite.  A relaxing afternoon with friends, your favorite breakfast foods and an excuse to open something bubbly is my idea of a perfect day.

Of course, in my house a mimosa is never just a mimosa and it shouldn’t be in yours either.  For starters, put down the orange juice and expensive champagne. It doesn’t belong together, save it for a special day.  Instead, my preference leans towards Italian prosecco – a beverage that embodies affordable luxury but perfect for everyday.

I recently discovered VOVETI prosecco and it’s absolutely my new favorite for sipping on and for mixed drinks.  VOVET is a brut DOC prosecco with tempered acidity and a fresh tasting profile.  You’ll notice the bubbles as soon as you pour your first glass and it invites you for a second.  My first taste made me feel like I was back in Italy and I love that they take care in their craft, only producing 15,000 cases a year.

So with the first sip of prosecco out of the way, it’s time to move on to how to dress up the second glass.  It is a party after all! As much as I love the flavor of berries with prosecco, it’s not the season for them but there are plenty of fruit juices to compliment the flavors of the wine.

Since everyone has their own favorite, I love setting up a little mimosa bar with bottles filled with winter fruits and garnishes to go alongside your beverage.  Your friends can pick and choose as they see fit and have fun with fruit combinations.  I think pear with a touch of pomegranate would be lovely or just enjoy each on their own.

Use this as a suggestion to set up your own mimosa bar. In some cases it might be easier to juice the fruits yourself, others you can buy the juice already bottled.
